New Cat Mario 3 – The sequel to the sequel to … I don’t even know anymore

Cat Mario 3 Intro

Cat Mario 3 Intro

So I’ve been looking on the internet for fresh new rage games and guess what? There’s another version of Cat Mario 3 called … yes you’ve guessed it! Cat Mario 3! While barely containing my rage-gasm I immediately pressed download. First thing I notice is that this game is approximately 40Mb in size, so be sure to download it only after you’ve returned from your time traveling safari through the 90’s. While I wait for it to download I make sure I have my defibrillator next to me and 911 on speed dial.

And it’s done downloading. It’s time to jump in and commit mental suicide. First thing that pops in my mind? It’s damn pretty! One of the prettiest graphics I’ve seen in a rage game. It’s like baby kittens sneezing. You’ll have rainbows ejaculating from your brain and out of your eyes and down on your keyboard (and defibrillator)! I love it! The graphics are just like in the first Cat Mario … only better!

Ohh … What’s this? I am asked to press space next to a sign post. Just when I thought I was safe behind the anonymity of the internet, I found out I was wrong. The developer of the game knows me, and he knows me good. This is the message that pops on my screen: “Welcome to the game for perverts….” *giggity, giggity*Make it through all these indecent and stupid to eat your vegetables levels. I hope you lose.

The rest is history: x1, x0, x-1,… , x-25. And I’m still stuck on the first screen. This game really knows how to put FFFFFFUUUUUU into FUN. Everything in it is Cat Mario – like. It has all the traps and enemies we love to hate and a few extra more. I put this at the top of my list as being one of the best rage games out there.

So what are you waiting for? Go to the resources page and download it – NEW Cat Mario 3!

Top 5 games like Cat Mario – Gameplay Video

Hi there once again!

Top 5 games like Cat Mario!

Although we intended for this website to be dedicated to the game Cat Mario, there are also a lot of other games in the same genre that we liked and we felt that you might want to know about them. With that in mind we’ve compiled a list of Top 5 games that will make you rage:

  1. Cat Mario – The mother of all rage games. Although not the rage-iest of the bunch we really like this game for its perfect mix of trolling and nostalgia. We liked this one so much that we created a website dedicated to it!
  2. I Wanna Be The Guy: The Movie: The game – Two words describe this game perfectly: “pure evil”. This game easily takes the cake for being the most difficult game out there. In this game you will play the role of The Kid, a young megaman-like-jump-ing young boy that is on his way to become The Guy. What we really like about this game is the multitude of references to older NES/SNES games that are sprinkled throughout the game’s levels (if you can actually get to them). You will need a heart of steel if you want to become the guy (lame pun unfortunately intended).
  3. I Wanna be the Guy: Gaiden – The pseudo-sequel to the first I Wanna Be The Guy game. As if the first one wasn’t hard enough, in this one you will die a couple of times before you even get the chance to play the first level (I’m not going to spoil the” fun” for you). The sequel was launch just recently so I really recommend this one if you’re interested in state of the art rage mechanics.
  4. Mario Brothers Frustration – This is actually a hack of the original Super Mario Brothers, so it runs on the original engine. The name says it all. Be sure to play it on a PC that you won’t mind throwing out the window. The style of this hack is pretty similar to Cat Mario so if you liked Cat Mario you will enjoy this one as well.
  5. The Unfair Platformer – Even though it’s not as polished as the other games, we give it points for trying to improve the genre by introducing new mechanics. We really like the text boxes that work like a basic tutorial. In this boxes the player is given a few instructions on what to expect from this sort of game and how to avoid some of the traps. Don’t let this fool you though, this game is pure evil as well but really fun to play.

Bonus: Hitler’s revenge – Although not technically a game, this is a really fun video to watch. It’s an animation that looks like the gameplay from an actual video game. It tells the story of Italian deli owner who gets killed in very unusual ways.

I hope you enjoyed our mini top 5 and that you’ve found new games to play. You can find links to all the games mentioned in this article on our resources page.

Cat Mario: About the game and download links.

Falling in the pit after hitting an invisible block.

Cat Mario (also known as Syobon Action), is a 2D video game notoriously know for doing everything it can to give the player a heart attack from raging. This is because of the many traps that behave differently from what you’d expect them to. Even more, the traps are disguised as harmless objects, which makes the rage be even more “delicious”.

For example, the clouds will kill you if you touch them. After that their graphics will change to a cheesy grin as if saying “Problem?”.

There are invisible blocks that activate only when you hit them. These are usually placed before gaps that you need to jump (as in the picture above). You’d expect to make it to the other side by just jumping over it. Not in this game. The block will activate and send you falling to your death. You will need to time your jumps carefully and think twice when pressing the jump button.

As if this wasn’t enough, sometimes you will need to activate this invisible blocks so you can jump on top of them to be able to jump over a more difficult obstacle. More often than not you’ll find yourself jumping in the air like an idiot for 15 minutes trying to find that invisible block to jump on.

Mushrooms (similar to those in Super Mario Bros. games) will make you grow to a colossal size breaking the floor underneath you causing you to fall to your death.

Little springs that you’d so very much like to use to jump over a wall, will unapologetically send you flying out of the level and on your way to a fresh run through the level.

Platforms in between gaps, which you intend to land on, will split down the middle at just the right time so that you can bathe in the refreshing lava underneath it.

Over the internet, the game is cited as a gaming parody of the classic Super Mario Bros. game, and for good reasons. Most of the traps are placed in such a way to use the player’s own memories of Super Mario Bros. against them.

In other words, this game will leave you with the impression that it really, really, hates you and you’ll have to think twice at every step. After you die a couple of times (and you will, trust me, at least 100 times) you will learn to like it and appreciate it for its intelligent design.

For the brave ones that want to give it a try, you can find information on how to download Cat Mario (Syobon Action) on our resources page.

If you just want to watch other people get “hurt” (which is really funny, I must admit so myself) stay tuned because we’ll be uploading “Let’s play” videos really soon.
